Wolfgang Schneider (art historian)

Wolfgang Schneider (born March 21, 1938 in Stolp ; † April 4, 2003 in southern France ) was a German historian , weightlifter and author .

Live and act

Schneider was the third son of a master cleaner and an insurance salesman. After graduating from high school in 1956, he became a multiple GDR master and multiple record holder in weightlifting. From 1959 to 1962 he trained as a journalist, from 1962 to 1966 he studied history at a distance in Berlin , Leipzig and Jena , graduating as a historian. From 1967 he worked as a freelance journalist and was mainly active for the foreign press service, from 1970 freelance writer. After studying art history in Weimar in 1985, attestation as an art historian .

Schneider died in a car accident in southern France in 2003.
