Wolfgang Schneider (art historian)
Wolfgang Schneider (born March 21, 1938 in Stolp ; † April 4, 2003 in southern France ) was a German historian , weightlifter and author .
Live and act
Schneider was the third son of a master cleaner and an insurance salesman. After graduating from high school in 1956, he became a multiple GDR master and multiple record holder in weightlifting. From 1959 to 1962 he trained as a journalist, from 1962 to 1966 he studied history at a distance in Berlin , Leipzig and Jena , graduating as a historian. From 1967 he worked as a freelance journalist and was mainly active for the foreign press service, from 1970 freelance writer. After studying art history in Weimar in 1985, attestation as an art historian .
Schneider died in a car accident in southern France in 2003.
Publications
Wolfgang Schneider published over 70 works mainly on cultural and literary historical issues. Some works appeared in ten languages and totaled millions of copies. He also wrote several scripts for numerous international exhibitions and works for radio, film and television.
