Wolfgang Schneider (doctor)

Wolfgang Schneider (born July 8, 1932 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † March 16, 2011 in Düsseldorf ) was a German physician.

Life

Wolfgang Schneider studied medicine at the universities in Tübingen , Bonn and Düsseldorf . In 1958 he received his doctorate in Bonn and completed training as a specialist in internal medicine at the Medical University Clinic in Cologne . After working as a senior physician at the Medical University Clinic and Polyclinic Homburg , he was appointed Scientific Councilor and Professor in 1971 .

On October 1, 1977 he became full professor for internal medicine at the University of Düsseldorf and at the same time director of the Clinic for Hematology , Oncology and Clinical Immunology at the University Hospital Düsseldorf . In 1997 he retired.

Schneider was considered an expert in hematological oncology . He was the founder of the "Leukemia League eV" initiative and was a board member and member of the honorary committee of the Rhenish-Westphalian Society for Internal Medicine.
