Wolfgang Schollwer (born February 13, 1922 in Potsdam ) is a former German politician ( LDP , FDP ), functionary , ministerial advisor and author who lives in Bonn today.

Schollwer was best known as a “pioneer of liberal détente policy ” in the East-West conflict of the “ Cold War ”. The FDP 's plans for Germany (“ Schollwer Plans ”) of 1962 and 1967 come from him, in which a policy of rapprochement between the two German states that existed at the time was conceived.

Schollwer, who in 1945 as a former lieutenant of the reserve in the Wehrmacht, had been denied medical studies in the Soviet occupation zone , initially worked as state secretary of the LDP in Brandenburg in the political reconstruction before he fled to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1950 and joined the FDP there. From 1951 to 1957 he was deputy, most recently acting head of the FDP East Office in Bonn. As a consultant for the foreign and German policy of the FDP and editor-in-chief of the " free democratic correspondence " (fdk) (1959–1970), Schollwer had a decisive influence on the opening of his party in Ostpolitik . In 1972 he joined the Foreign Office's planning team as a consultant , to which he was a member until his retirement in 1987. From 1986 to 1990 Schollwer was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .

Documents about his activities for the FDP are in the archive of liberalism of the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit in Gummersbach . The archive has published several volumes of his records.
