Wolfgang Tölsner

Wolfgang Tölsner (born April 25, 1948 in Lingen (Ems) ) is a German manager .

Life

Wolfgang Tölsner studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and completed his studies as a graduate engineer at the TU Hannover. His professional career began in 1975 in the switchgear division of Brown Boveri & Cie (BBC) in Mannheim . In the following years, Wolfgang Tölsner took on various management positions at BBC, also at the international locations in the Middle East and in the French-speaking countries of Africa.

In 1986 he moved to the marine technology division and two years later as division manager in the marine, oil and gas division at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB). In 1992 Wolfgang Tölsner started his career as a locomotive builder for ABB Henschel AG in Kassel , where he was appointed to the board in 1994. As president and managing director of the newly formatted Adtranz Germany and head of the factory in Hennigsdorf , he took over management of the long-distance transport division in 1996.

From 1999 to May 2001 he worked as managing director of Deutsche Waggonbau GmbH, where he was responsible for operations in continental Europe. After the takeover by Bombardier Transportation , Wolfgang Tölsner was then President Locomotives and Freight.

Wolfgang Tölsner was also a member of the Presidium of the Association of the Railway Industry (VDB) in Germany from 1996 to 1998 and was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Bochumer Verein Verkehrstechnik GmbH on July 1, 2002.

Tölsner worked from 2004 to 2009 as Chief Operating Officer of the rail technology and rail transport company Bombardier Transportation . As the company's vice-head, he was responsible for the company's operations.

From February 2009, Wolfgang Tölsner was retired and worked as an independent management consultant. From April 2010 to April 2013 he was a member of the Board of Directors of OC Oerlikon AG , and since March 2013 a member of the Supervisory Board of Knorr-Bremse AG , Munich.

From February 2016 to spring 2019 he was once again Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bombardier, succeeding Wilhelm Bender . He withdrew from this post for personal reasons, and was succeeded by Rüdiger Grube .
