Pine Cay is a small island in the chain of western Caicos Islands . Politically, it belongs to the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands and is now privately owned.
The island is part of a group of about 20 flat sand islands that lie between the west coast of North Caicos and the northeast coast of Providenciales . Pine Cay is only separated from the adjoining Water Cay to the west by a narrow inlet ; Today the passage is so silted up in the north that the neighboring island can be reached on foot at least when the water is low.
The island's owner, Meridian Club , has been running a small, luxurious bungalow complex on Pine Cay since 1970 . The island has some utility facilities and an 800 meter runway for small aircraft.
