Little Ambergris Cay is an uninhabited island in the Ambergris Cays group , a small Atlantic archipelago in the southeastern Caicos Islands .
The five kilometers long and about one kilometer wide, marshy and silted island is two kilometers west of Big Ambergris Cay .
The name of the islands is derived from Ambergris (English for ' ambergris '), a waste product of sperm whales used for perfume production , which was previously washed up there in large quantities.
