Wolfgang Tischler (born August 2, 1912 in Heidelberg , † February 20, 2007 in Kiel ) was a German zoologist and animal ecologist.

Life

Tischler, son of the botanist Georg Tischler , studied natural sciences and especially biology at the University of Kiel and Cornell University from 1931 and graduated with the teaching degree in 1937. He received his doctorate in Kiel in 1936 ( A contribution to the vision of insects ) and completed his habilitation in Kiel in 1941 ( On the ecology of the most important pentatomids harmful to grain in Germany ). In the 1930s he was a member of the NSDAP (1937) and the SA (1933).

At the University of Kiel he was an assistant at the Zoological Institute, from 1947 an adjunct professor, from 1950 diet lecturer, from 1957 scientific adviser and from 1963 extraordinary and from 1966 full professor of ecology .
