Wolfgang Trapp (engineer)

Wolfgang Trapp (born October 14, 1918 in Braunschweig ; died 2003 ) was a German metrologist , engineer , telecommunications and high-frequency technician and author.

Life

Wolfgang Trapp received his doctorate in 1954 from the Technical University in Braunschweig as Dr.-Ing. As head (1954–1964) of the laboratory for inclination scales at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig, he played a key role in the revision of measurement and calibration laws and the harmonization of calibration regulations within the European Community. In 1964, Trapp, succeeding Kurt Matthaes, became head of the calibration administration for Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel . Sigurd Reinhard is appointed his successor as head of the calibration department in Kiel . From 1967 to 1983 Trapp was director of the Bavarian State Office for Weights and Measures in Munich . He was also a consultant to the Commission for Goods Packaging (DIN Committee). His manuals published by Reclam-Verlag became standard works.
