Wolfgang Vogler (born September 8, 1948 in Parchim ; † July 15, 1974 in Magdeburg ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .

Vogler, who lived in Parchim, fell in love with a woman from Australia who was visiting the GDR in the summer of 1974 . As a result, on July 14, 1974, he tried to cross the border with West German Lower Saxony near Benneckenstein . He triggered a self-shot system at around 6.30 p.m. and was seriously injured. After emergency care he was taken to the Magdeburg Medical Academy , where he died the next day.

In a trial for the death of Vogler and five other escape victims who died from self-shot systems or the use of firearms, the responsible former members of the National Defense Council of the GDR were sentenced to four and a half to seven and a half years imprisonment for inciting manslaughter.
