Wolfgang "Büchse" Winkler (born December 29, 1935 in Hohenstein-Ernstthal ) is a German jazz drummer .

Winkler received private tuition and continued to develop as an autodidact . From 1960 to 1963 he played in the Rostock Dance Orchestra , and since 1963 also in Michael Fritzen's quartet . Between 1964 and 1967 he was a member of Manfred Ludwig Sextet , but next played in the modern jazz big band of Klaus Lenz , where he Manfred Krug accompanied. From 1967 Winkler worked not only in the Berlin Radio Orchestra , but also in the Studio IV radio jazz ensemble . From 1971 to 1972 he played in Hubert Katzenbeier's quintet or tentet , in 1972 in Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky's quartet and in 1980 in his octet. Ulrich Gumpert brought him into the first version of his workshop band in 1972 ; in the same year he also played with Günther Fischer . In 1985 he appeared at the 1st Jazz Days of the GDR with Konrad Körner's Jazzterday . He also played in the field of hot jazz , for example with the Dixieland All Stars Berlin . Since 2004 he has been one of the Jazz Makers Berlin ; he continues to perform with The Judge & his Chicago Gang . In the field of modern jazz he is active in the formations of Hubert Katzenbeier and Konrad Körner.

Winkler played at international festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (1968) or the Jazz Jamboree Warsaw (1970). He is considered an "extraordinarily confident drummer who is versed in all styles and lineups."
