Wolfgang von Hippel

Wolfgang von Hippel (born August 28, 1936 in Munich ) is a German historian .

Life

Wolfgang von Hippel received his doctorate in 1965 from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau . He completed his habilitation in 1972 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and from 1974 to 2001 was Professor of Modern History with a focus on social history at the University of Mannheim .

Wolfgang von Hippel's work focuses on economic and social history from the 17th to the 20th century. In his research he takes particular account of the south-west of Germany.
