Wolfpack Unleashed (English for "unleashed wolf pack") is a Thrash Metal band from Leoben ( Styria ).
history
The band was founded in January 2005 by guitarist Wolfgang Koch and drummer Daniel Haberl (formerly "Doomed Era", Deathmetal) after both of them had left the thrash band Darkfall .
The singer / bassist Günther Wirth and the guitarist Karl Preininger completed the band. In the middle of 2006 the demo "The Art of Resistance" was published, which was sent by the band to selected magazines. Italian rock hard named “The Art of Resistance” “Demo of the Month”, and Metal Hammer even spoke of a mixture of Megadeth's Rust in Peace and Metallica's “black album”. The reactions in the other magazines were also excellent.
The reactions to the demo earned the band a contract with Napalm Records . In the summer of 2007 the band recorded their debut album "Anthems of Resistance", which was released on September 29, 2007. The album contains re-recordings of eight of the songs from the original demo as well as a new composition, "Disgrace Erased".
Like the demo, Anthems Of Resistance received good reviews in Legacy , RockHard , Heavy! , Metal Hammer , as well as in the rest of Europe, Japan and the USA. After that Wolfpack Unleashed interviews were published in metal magazines in Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Canada, USA, Finland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Portugal, France and Serbia.
Wolfpack Unleashed received the award "10 × Dynamit" in the Italian RockHard and in Japan the album advanced to number 6 on the metal import charts.
A second album was planned for the end of 2008. However, the record was not yet released until the beginning of 2014.
style
Guitarist Wolfgang Koch roughly describes the style of Wolfpack Unleashed as a mixture of the riffing of Testament , the harmonies of Megadeth and the vocals of Metallica . Wolfpack Unleashed categorize themselves as "Melodic Thrash Metal", which comes from the fact that the band, unlike most other Thrash bands, mainly uses minor scales for melody, which gives the music an additional melodic and emotional dimension, while the riffing deliberately " old-school “is thrash-like.
