Wolfram Kinzig

Wolfram Kinzig (born March 7, 1960 in Mannheim ) is a German Protestant church historian . He holds the chair for old church at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .

Life

From 1978 to 1985, Kinzig studied Protestant theology and Latin studies at the Universities of Heidelberg and Lausanne . Between 1985 and 1987 he completed a graduate degree at Christ Church (Oxford) with Maurice Wiles and at Trinity College (Cambridge) a . a. at Lionel Wickham. In 1988 he received his doctorate in theology at the theological faculty of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. In 1991 he completed his habilitation there and in 1992 he was awarded the Venia Legendi for the subject of historical theology .

From 1988 to 1992 he was a Research Fellow at Peterhouse College and from 1992 to 1995 a Senior Research Fellow at King's College , Cambridge . Between 1992 and 1996 he worked as a private lecturer ( Heisenberg scholarship holder ) for historical theology at the theological faculty of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. In the 1996 summer semester, he succeeded Knut Schäferdiek for church history at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He is a founding member and spokesman (director) of the Center for Religion and Society .

Kinzig is married and has two children. His younger brother is the Tübingen criminologist and criminal law scientist Jörg Kinzig .

Research priorities

Kinzig's main research interests are early church creeds, early church exegesis and sermons, Cyril of Alexandria , Christian ideas about history, the history of Judeo-Christian relations, the history of universities and science (especially theology) in the 19th and 20th centuries, and contemporary global Christianity.
