description

The Wolfsbach rises in the western protected area and flows almost continuously through pasture grassland and further downstream through a spruce forest and beech forest. Perennial corridors and sections of reed cane can be found alongside the stream. The wool stream coming from the northwest flows into the lower reaches. The wool river of a Milzkrautreichen Sickerquelle in an ash - maple backlog with ravine forest character . The valley slopes are covered with oak coppice , mixed with hornbeam . The herb layer is made up of the typical species of the dry and nutrient-poor oak forests such as bilberry , sage germander , hawkweed and wire insect . Due to the near-natural characteristics of the flowing water, the wetland and poor grassland areas and the structural diversity of the deciduous forest, the area is of great importance for the protection of flowing water species and the deciduous forest community in the Rureifel landscape, which is strongly characterized by spruce forests . The area is an important link in the network of near-natural low mountain streams. The protection goal is the preservation of the flowing water with the contact habitats and the preservation of the hardwood population.

Protection purpose

The habitats are to be protected for many plants, fungi and animals that are endangered according to the Red List . Characteristic of this area are the biotope types to be protected such as springs, near-natural, unspoilt stream sections, wet and humid grassland and alluvial forests .
