Volodymyr Morhun
Volodymyr Wassylowytsch Morhun ( Ukrainian Володимир Васильович Моргун , Russian Владимир Васильевич Моргун Vladimir Vasilyevich Morgun * 10. March 1938 in Novoselytsia , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian geneticists and plant breeders .
Life
Volodymyr Morhun was born in Cherkassy Oblast as the son of a farming family and attended an agricultural school until 1958 and then until 1963 the Faculty of Agronomy of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy in Kiev . In 1980 he became a doctor of biological sciences. In 1990 he became a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . He is director of the Academy's Institute for Plant Physiology and Genetics as well as a member of the Academy's Presidium and Secretary of the Academy's Department of General Biology.
His main research area is the genetic improvement of crops , mainly wheat and maize. He developed the theory of induced mutation variability, researches the genetic improvement of mutation breeding and is the author of over 540 scientific papers, including 10 books.

Volodymyr Morhun received numerous honors, including:
