Wolrad II. (Waldeck)

Wolrad II von Waldeck ( also: Vollrad; * March 27, 1509 in Eilhausen ; † April 15, 1578 ibid) was the second son of Philip III. von Waldeck-Eisenberg (1486–1539) and Adelheid von Hoya (* 1472; † April 11, 1513).

He was the ruling Count of Waldeck -Eisenberg from 1539 to 1578 and became the progenitor of the middle line Eisenberg of the Waldeck family . Wolrad II was also known by the nickname "the scholar". In 1546 he took part in the Regensburg Religious Discussion as one of the three Protestant auditors . From 1547 until his death in 1578 he resided in the moated castle in Eilhausen.

On June 6, 1546, he married Anastasia Günthera von Schwarzburg-Blankenburg (* March 31, 1526 - April 1, 1570), daughter of Heinrich XXXII. von Schwarzburg-Blankenburg (1498–1538) and Katharina von Henneberg (1508–1567). The couple had the following children:
