Wonder is the fifth studio album by the Australian worship band Hillsong United . It was released on June 9, 2017.

The album's title and release date was announced in May 2017. Much of the album was produced in Los Angeles . In May, the theme song Wonder was released as a lead single. The album was produced by Joel Houston and Michael Guy Chislett.

criticism

Lucas Munachen of Jesus Freak Hideout rated the album three out of five stars. He closes his criticism by saying that Wonder is another "strong release", but the creative development compared to its predecessor Empires is sparse. Christa Banister from Christian Broadcasting Network gave the album three out of five stars, in her opinion the album was too monotonous after the first four songs and half of the album sounded like a collection of B-sides . Hallels’s Timothy Yap gave Wonder a more positive rating, giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars and calling it the most thoughtful and creative album the band has ever released.

Awards

The album was nominated for a Dove Award in the Pop / Contemporary Album of the Year category. The title So Will I (100 Billion X) received the award in the Worship Recorded Song of the Year category .

Wonder reached number four on the Australian charts and stayed on the charts for eight weeks. In the United States, it reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 and was ranked number one on the top Christian albums as their fifth studio album in a row. Further placements were achieved in New Zealand , the Netherlands and Norway .

Singles

The singles Wonder , So Will I (100 Billion X) and Not Today achieved placements on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs. So Will I (100 Billion X) reached the highest position with third place and was also awarded a gold record . The songs Shadow Step , Splinters and Stones , Shape of Your Heart , Glimmer in the Dust , Future Marches In and Greatest of These could also be placed in the Hot Christian Songs.
