Woodley is a town and civil parish in Borough Wokingham in Berkshire , west of London in southern England . Woodley is a suburb of Reading and is close to the towns of Earley and Wokingham and the surrounding villages of Sonning , Twyford , Winnersh , Hurst and Charvil .

The place name Woodley comes from Old English and meant "a clearing in the wood ". Woodley used to be part of the ecclesiastical community of Sonning.
