history

Hofmark Woppenhof

Woppenhof was a Hofmark. In the year "1356 an Eberhard der Losaner (Losauer) is called to Woppenhof (Poppenhof, Boppenhof)". In 1356 an Ulrich der Hostauer appears in Woppenhof. This noble family can be traced back to the mid-15th century as court lords of Woppenhof. Heinrich Fronberger is named as the owner of Woppenhof in 1455. In 1473 Gilg Nothaft zu Bodenstein followed as Landsasse zu Woppenhof. Other owners of the Woppenhof estate were Georg Loterbeck (1487), Ulrich von Lichteneck and Hans von Brand, who bought the Woppenhof from the Leuchtenbergers in 1526. The Brands family held Hofmark until the beginning of the 17th century. This was followed by Johann Krapp (1626), Hans Albrecht von Kolbitz (1647), Georg Adam Baron von Junckner (1748/49), Baron von Lichtenstein (1775), his widow Elisabeth Maria von Lichtenstein, who passed Woppenhof to Wilhelm Josef Freiherr von Murach in 1786 sold on Niedermurach. He was followed by his son Karl Freiherr von Murach.

Church of St. Johann Baptist

The Catholic Church of St. Johann Baptist was a branch church of Köblitz. The simple building should have been built at the end of the 17th century. The year 1730 is located above the door on the north side of the church. There is a high altar and two side altars in the church. Several tombstones are set in the building. In 1997 the building underwent an interior renovation.

Woppenhof Castle

As was common at the time, there was a castle in Woppenhof that is now in ruins.

Tax district and parish structure

The Kingdom of Bavaria was divided into 15 districts in 1808. These districts were named after rivers based on the French model ( Naabkreis , Regenkreis , Unterdonaukreis , etc.). The districts were divided into district courts. The districts in turn should be divided into individual municipality areas. In 1808 the Vohenstrauß Regional Court was divided into 47 tax districts and individual communities. One of them was Woppenhof. With effect from January 1, 1926, the municipality of Woppenhof was separated from the Vohenstrauß District Office and assigned to the Nabburg District Office. On January 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into the community Glaubendorf. He has been part of Wernberg-Köblitz since May 1, 1978.
