The World Emoji Day is an unofficial holiday, which is celebrated on 17 July. Since 2014, the day has been celebrated annually with emoji events and product releases.

origin

The holiday was first launched in 2014 by London-based Australian Jeremy Burges . He also founded Emojipedia in 2013 , where all changes to the Unicode Emoji are documented.

World Emoji Day fell on July 17th, as the popular calendar emoji (?), as found on the Apple iPhone or Samsung devices, shows July 17th. On July 17, 2002, at the Macworld Expo in New York, the iCal calendar program was first announced for the Mac .

Companies also use World Emoji Day to launch promotions.

2017 was the Empire State Building "Emoji yellow" lights, the American luxury department store chain Saks Fifth Avenue hosted a Emoji event with a "Emoji red carpet" and Google removed the characteristic blob Emoji ( English 'blob' "blob") .

In 2018 Apple introduced 70 new emoji, Kim Kardashian released her new Kimoji fragrances and the premiere of Emojiland, the musical took place in New York.
