The World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2016 was the 24th edition of the World U-17 Hockey Challenge , an ice hockey tournament for junior national teams in the U17 age group. From October 30th to November 5th, 2016 the competition took place in Sault Ste. Marie in the Canadian province of Ontario . The gold medal was won for the second time after 2013 by the Swedish selection , which prevailed in the final against Team Canada Black.
mode
The eight participants were divided into two groups of four teams each. In the group stage, each team played once against all other group participants and thus played three games. Then all participants contested the quarter-finals, which, like the semi-finals and the final, were played in the knockout system .
