Word and Truth was the title of an Austrian monthly magazine for religion and culture .

The magazine was founded in April 1946 by Monsignor Otto Mauer and Karl Strobl . The magazine published in Vienna (from 1947 co-editors were Otto Schulmeister , Anton Böhm and Karlheinz Schmidthüs ) campaigned for the modernization of the Catholic Church and enjoyed international renown. After Mauer's death in 1973 it was discontinued.

In addition to the editors, Friedrich Heer , Franz Tumler , Franz König , Kurt Schubert and Gerhard Drekonja also regularly wrote “Word and Truth” .

In 1961 , a year before the beginning of the council , the magazine “Wort und Truth” organized a survey among Catholics in the German-speaking area about the state of the church: “In your opinion, what are the most urgent questions arising from the situation of the church in the world today ask? "and" Which specific measures would you particularly recommend to solve these questions? "
