Wrestling Swordfish is an American documentary short film from the year 1931 .
action
First, various sea creatures are introduced that either hunt other sea creatures or are hunted by them. The introduction to the life of sea creatures is followed by a drama that was heralded in contemporary coverage of the film as the “battle of the century”: A fisherman in a small fishing boat takes part in a fishing competition. A swordfish weighing 300 pounds bites its line, but it refuses to surrender without a fight.

Wrestling Swordfish was created as the second part of the one-reel documentary series Cannibals of the Deep . Part 1 was the short film The Trail of the Swordfish , which was released in September 1931.
Wrestling Swordfish premiered on November 8, 1931. The film distributor was the Educational Pictures Corporation of America . The film was also included in the Educational Film Catalog in 1937 .
The early color film was shot in Sennettcolor .
Awards
Wrestling Swordfish won in 1932 the Oscar in the category " Best Short Film - Novelty ". He prevailed in a runoff against Swing High , who had been in the first election with only three votes ahead of Wrestling Swordfish , whereby the result had to be considered a tie according to the rules.
