history
Emergence
The Wuhleteich can be traced back to the original planning of the Berlin Garden Show . The waters should become an important part of the gardens of the world . After German reunification , the originally planned construction work could no longer be continued. This created a valuable ecological area.
Stone Age find
One of the most famous prehistoric finds in the Berlin area was recovered during construction work. This was found at a depth of 5.5 meters. It is a deer mask from the Middle Stone Age. These and other extraordinary finds indicate that the Wuhletal has been inhabited and shaped by people for a very long time.
IGA Berlin 2017
For the 2017 International Garden Exhibition , the Wuhleteich and the surrounding area will be rebuilt. The entire area will be administered by the Gardens of the World during this period and will then be released to the public again.
