Wulf Köpke (Germanist)
Wulf Köpke (* 24. September 1928 in Lübeck ; † 16th May 2010 ) was a German - American Germanist .
Life
In the post-war period he studied German and philosophy in Freiburg im Breisgau and Paris. After receiving his doctorate in 1955 in Freiburg im Breisgau on The Problem of Reality in Jean Paul's Late Work , he became a lecturer for German language and literature in Singapore, and then worked at the Goethe Institute in Munich. He has taught in Chicago, Houston, and Texas A&M University . In 2004 Köpke was awarded the Herder Medal of the International Herder Society.
