The Delage Type AB and the Delage Type AB 4 variant were early passenger car models from the French brand Delage .

description

The national approval authority tested the type AB with the number 1011 and the engine number 5166 and issued the approval on April 29, 1910. Delage offered the model from 1910 to 1913. From the Type AB 4 the vehicle with the number 4060 and the motor 8900 has been checked. This variant was approved on May 27, 1913. It is unclear whether this model was offered beyond 1913. The predecessor was the Delage Type J , the successor was the Delage Type AI .

A four-cylinder engine from Établissements Ballot powered the vehicles. It had a 75 mm bore and 120 mm stroke . This resulted in a displacement of 2121 cm³ . It was rated 12  Cheval fiscal and had 16  hp . During the first three series it was a Type 4 F engine and then a Type 4 FM . The differences are not known.

The type AB had a three- speed and the type AB 4 a four-speed gearbox.

The chassis had a track width of 1280 mm and a wheelbase of 2750 mm . Two and four-seater bodies are known as torpedoes .

Delage Type AB, Type AC , Type AD , Type AE and Type AH had a similar or even identical chassis. The main difference was in the engine used.

Numbers of units and surviving vehicles

Peter Jacobs from the Delage Register of Great Britain compiled an overview of production figures and the number of vehicles that still exist in October 2006. His information on the construction times differ in some cases from the information given by the book authors. Numbers of the models before the First World War are unknown. For this model he gives the different construction time from 1909 to 1913. Six vehicles still exist.
