The Delage Type AI was an early passenger car model from the French brand Delage .
description
The national registration authority tested the vehicle with the number 3310 and engine number 6002 and granted approval on November 14, 1912. Delage offered the model from 1913 to 1915. The predecessor was the Delage Type AB , the successor was the Delage Type BI .
A self-made four-cylinder type 4 I engine powered the vehicles. It had a 75 mm bore and 130 mm stroke . That resulted in a displacement of 2297 cm³ and 12 Cheval fiscal . Actual engine performance is unknown.
The normal version of the chassis had a track width of 1280 mm and a wheelbase of 2900 mm . For the long version, the corresponding values were 1380 mm and 3150 mm. Are known Doppelphaeton and torpedo with four seats and two-seat roadster .
Numbers of units and surviving vehicles
Peter Jacobs from the Delage Register of Great Britain compiled an overview of production figures and the number of vehicles that still exist in October 2006. His information on the construction times differ in some cases from the information given by the book authors. Numbers of the models before the First World War are unknown. For this model he confirms the construction period from 1913 to 1915. There are still 18 vehicles in existence.
Auctions
A preserved vehicle from 1913 with a body as a skiff from the bodybuilder Keith Hill and the British registration number 8656 PE was auctioned by Bonhams on September 7, 2013 for 51,221 euros .
On February 7, 2019, Bonhams also auctioned a four-seater touring car from around 1914 with the British registration EJ 143 for 41,975 euros.
