The Delage Type DF was a racing car from the French brand Delage . In contrast to the Delage Type 2 LS, it was designed for hill climbs and high-speed driving.

The basis was the Delage Type GS from 1922–1923. Engineer Henri Toutée designed a special cylinder head for more power.
A six-cylinder engine powered the vehicle. 85 mm bore , 150 mm stroke and 5107 cm³ displacement were retained.
The chassis had a track width of 1420 mm at the front and 1380 mm at the rear . The wheelbase was certainly 2800 mm for one car, and probably also for another car.
One execution was called Sprint I and La Torpille . The engine was rated 31 Cheval fiscal . The engine output was around 170 hp . The grille was aerodynamically clad, which led to the nickname La Torpille . The structure was a two-seater racing car. In a race near Lyon in 1922, the driver René Thomas reached 192 km / h. The fairing was removed for the 1923 motorsport season because it had a detrimental effect on engine cooling.
A second version was called La Tango or 6-cylindres touring . For the engine 25 CV and 100 HP are handed down. The vehicle was bodied as a two-seater Phaeton . In the race mentioned above, René Thomas reached 159 km / h.
It stayed with these two copies. La Torpille still exists today.
