The Delage Type J and the Delage Type J 3 variant were early passenger car models from the French brand Delage .

description

The national approval authority tested the Type J with the number 654 and granted approval on January 18, 1909. Delage offered the model from 1909 to 1910. The type J 3 vehicle 840 was registered on August 31, 1909. The predecessor was the Delage Type H , the successors were the Delage Type AB and the Type AD .

A four-cylinder engine of De Dion-Bouton drove the vehicles of the first series. It had a 75 mm bore and 100 mm stroke . This resulted in a displacement of 1767 cm³ . The engine was rated 10 or 12  Cheval fiscal and developed 14.5  hp . The cars of the second to fifth series were of the type J 3 . Their engines had the same bore, but 120 mm stroke and 2121 cm³ displacement. The engines of the second to fourth series came from Établissements Ballot , those of the fifth series from De Dion-Bouton.

The chassis of the Type J had a track width of 1128 mm and that of the Type J 3 had a track width of 1280 mm. The wheelbase was either 2350 or 2600 mm. The double phaeton , landaulet and phaeton have survived .

The maximum speed was specified with 62 to 65 km / h and the curb weight with 1020 kg. Another source confirms the curb weight and also gives a vehicle length of 3460 mm and width of 1450 mm.

Numbers of units and surviving vehicles

Peter Jacobs from the Delage Register of Great Britain compiled an overview of production figures and the number of vehicles that still exist in October 2006. His information on the construction times differ in some cases from the information given by the book authors. Numbers of the models before the First World War are unknown. For this model he confirms the construction period from 1909 to 1910. There are still three vehicles.
