The Delage Type F was an early passenger car model from the French brand Delage .

description

The national registration authority tested the vehicle with the number 248 and granted approval on July 24, 1907. Delage offered the model from 1907 to 1910. Predecessor was the Delage Type A , was succeeded by the Delage Type U .

A single-cylinder engine of De Dion-Bouton powered vehicles. At first it was the 8 H engine . It had a 100 mm bore and 120 mm stroke . This resulted in a displacement of 942 cm³ . The engine developed 8  hp . The engine type 9 H was used in the fifth series . The increased stroke of 130 mm provided 1021 cm³ displacement and 9 hp. With this engine, the model did not receive a new type test by the approval authorities.

The chassis initially had a track width of 1180 mm and a wheelbase of 2450 to 2470 mm . In the fifth series, the wheelbase was 2475 mm. This significant extension compared to its predecessor enabled more spacious bodies. The usual structure was a double phaeton with side access. In addition, two-seater Phaetons have been handed down. So-called coupé and sedan, landaulet and panel van were also available at the customer's request .

One source gives 3500 mm vehicle length, 1400 mm vehicle width, 1450 mm vehicle height and 450 kg weight of the chassis for the sports version.

The Type F also differed from the five previous models by a different grille . It was wider and horizontal at the bottom. However, this statement does not apply to the Type F 3 variant.

Numbers of units and surviving vehicles

Peter Jacobs from the Delage Register of Great Britain compiled an overview of production figures and the number of vehicles that still exist in October 2006. His information on the construction times differ in some cases from the information given by the book authors. Numbers of the models before the First World War are unknown. For this model he confirms the construction period from 1907 to 1910. There are still eight vehicles.

Automobile sport

When Coupe des Voiturettes 1907 in the fall of 1907 three Type F participated. The Pellegrin / Chenard team was eliminated. Lucas and Bonnard, who took turns driving, finished in seventh place. The third driver was Ménard, who finished 19th.

The racing car version was further developed into the Delage Type FC in the next year .
