The Delage Type 15 S 8 was a racing car from the French brand Delage .

description

Albert Lory developed this model. On July 9, 1926, it was approved by the national registration authority with chassis number 21.642 and engine number 4. Delage used the model from 1926 to 1927 and private drivers until 1947. The predecessor was the Delage Type 2 LCV . There was no successor because Delage withdrew from racing.

An eight-cylinder in - line engine powered the vehicles. It had a 55.8 mm bore and 76 mm stroke . This resulted in a cubic capacity of 1487 cm³ and a tax classification of 15  Cheval fiscal . The engine developed 170  hp (125 kW). Execution of 1926 had two Roots - compressors .

All vehicles were converted for the racing year 1927. Now they only had one compressor. There were also other changes to the engine. This second version was not presented to the licensing authority.

The vehicle had a track width of 1345 mm and a wheelbase of 2495 mm . Another source gives 3630 mm vehicle length, 1590 mm vehicle width and 748 kg curb weight . The axles were rigid and guided on longitudinal leaf springs . There was also a version with individually suspended front wheels, in which the wheel carrier was guided by an arm mounted on the frame and on a wishbone and the transverse leaf spring (spherical double wishbone axis , central arm axis ).

The top speed was around 200 km / h during test drives in the first version and 210 km / h in the second version, depending on the gear ratio used.

A total of four vehicles were built.
