history
The origins of racing of the Champagne lying department Marne were in motorcycle racing events , the 1912/1913 km on the 225 long street circuit Circuit de la Champagne near the town of Sarcy , about 20 km southwest of Reims were discharged.
The first Grand Prix de la Marne took place on August 2, 1925 on the Circuit de bein-Nauroy . The race was advertised for Formula Libre , Voiturettes and Cyclecars .
In 1926 the Grand Prix moved to the Circuit de Reims-Gueux . The growing popularity of the event prompted the Automobile Club de France (ACF), the race in 1932 as the French Grand Prix ( XVIII Grand Prix de l'ACF tender). The French Grand Prix also took place in Reims in 1938 and 1939 . That is why no official Grand Prix de la Marne was held in those years.
After a sports car race had already taken place parallel to the race for Grand Prix racing cars in 1935 , the Grand Prix de la Marne in 1936 and 1937 was exclusively for sports cars . This was mainly due to the dominance of the German Grand Prix cars from Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz .
After the Second World War , the French Grand Prix only took place in Reims-Gueux. In 1952 a sports car race was held for the last time as the Grand Prix de la Marne.
