Pierre Clause (born February 8, 1897 in Paris , † January 12, 1967 ) was a French racing driver .

Career

Pierre Clause was particularly active as a racing driver in the 1920s and, in addition to his involvement in circuit races, also set some speed records. He was the first driver to set a record at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry , which opened in 1924 . He drove 3000 kilometers on a Bignan at an average speed of 124 km / h. He was also successful as a Grand Prix driver. In 1925 he won the first Grand Prix de la Marne on a Bignan and came third at the Gran Premio de San Sebastián in 1927 . He competed four times in the German Grand Prix . In his debut race at the AVUS in 1926 , he came in fourth as the best non-German (winner Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes-Benz SS ).

Clause competed three times in the Le Mans 24-hour race . There were 26 years and a world war between its first appearance in 1925 and the last start in 1951 . The best placement was 12th overall at the debut in 1925.
