Wuppertal sports facilities

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of sports facilities in Wuppertal contains indoor and outdoor pools and sports facilities in the city of Wuppertal, as well as other sports facilities that are not municipal.

The city has 733 sports facilities, the most famous of which is the Stadion am Zoo . The stadium, which opened in 1924, is the home of the third division club Wuppertaler SV and has a capacity of around 23,000 spectators. Top-class indoor sports use the Bayer sports hall (the club's own hall) and the university hall . The Bundesliga club RSC Cronenberg is at home in the Alfred-Henckels-Halle.

The average age of a sports hall in Wuppertal is 51 years. In addition to the stadium at the zoo and its buildings, the gym on Hedtberg, the gym on Neue Friedrichstraße, gym on Helmholtzstraße and the gym on Eichenstraße are listed as historical monuments. In addition to the Stadtbad Elberfeld , which is still in use , the former Stadtbad Kleine Flurstraße and Stadtbad Auf der Bleiche are also recognized as architectural monuments, but the latter buildings are used for other purposes.

The Beyenburger reservoir is used by canoeing clubs as a canoe competition site and the Rum Bergische Drachenbootfestival.
