The Wurzel-Jesse pulpit in the pilgrimage church Maria im Sand in Dettelbach , a town in the district of Kitzingen ( Bavaria ), was created in 1626. The pulpit is as part of the church features a protected monument .

The baroque pulpit in the southeast corner of the right transverse wing is carried by the figure of Jesse , David's father . The motif of the root of Jesse is shown from here . From the chest of Jesse, who wears a long beard and a turban , branches with the kings of Israel and Judah grow up to the pulpit and end in the top with the figure of Mary . The crowned half-figures made of alabaster represent the 27 ancestors of Christ . On the outer wall of the pulpit stairs, the four church fathers and in the niches of the pulpit corpus the Savior and the four evangelists are depicted. The figure of John the Baptist can be found between the stairs and the pulpit. The figure of Francis of Assisi can be seen on the pulpit parapet. A lying lion carries the stairs. The lower part of the pulpit is surrounded by a grille.
