Wylich
Wylich (also Wilich ) is the name of a uradeligen Lower Rhine - Westphalian noble family .
history
The sex derives its ancestry from the von Steenhuis which appeared in documents in 1158 . Adolf von und zu Steenhuis († 1355), son of the knight Gottfried von Steinhaus, married Bata (Beatrix) von Wylack, heiress of Gut Wylack near Wassenberg an der Rur , in 1317 and has been called Wylack since then. However, he kept his ancestral coat of arms. The name later changed to Wylich through diphthongization .
In the 17th century the family split into several lines, of which only the Lottum line still exists today:
- Wylich zu Lottum , barons and counts of Lottum in the Duchy of Kleve ,
- Wylich zu Diersford, barons of Diersfordt in the Duchy of Kleve (line expired in 1831),
- Wylich zu Richolt, Barons von Rijckholt in the Archbishopric of Cologne (line expired around 1720),
- Wylich zu Botzelaer, barons of Botzelaer in the Duchy of Geldern (line expired around 1702),
- Wylich zu Pröbsting, barons of Pröbsting in the monastery of Münster (line expired around 1700).
coat of arms
The family coat of arms shows a red rafter in silver , which encloses a red ring. On the crowned helmet is a growing silver dragon's trunk, which has a red ribbon with a ring around its neck, from which the reduced coat of arms hangs down. The blankets are red-silver.
