Wylie Stateman

Wylie Stateman is an American sound engineer and sound designer .

Life

Stateman began his career in sound editing in 1980. However, his first film work, The Long Riders , was not named in the credits. He was also not mentioned in the credits for the sound editing of Disney's Tron . In 1985 he was nominated for an Emmy as one of over a dozen sound employees . He subsequently worked with some well-known directors, eleven times with Oliver Stone between 1988 and 2008 and eleven times with John Hughes between 1986 and 1993 . He received his first Oscar nomination for Oliver Stone's Born on July 4th . He received the BAFTA Film Award in 1993 for Stones JFK - Tatort Dallas . He received another five Academy Award nominations by 2013, but never won the award. Wolfgang Petersen hired Stateman to rework the sound effects of the Director's Cut of Das Boot .
