Xan das Bolas

Xan das Bolas (actually Tomás Ares Peña ; born October 30, 1908 in A Coruña , † September 13, 1977 in Madrid ) was a Spanish actor .

Das Bolas began his acting career in the early 1930s as a comedian in the theater and in variety shows. His self-chosen stage name is the Galician expression for Johannes from / with the stories . After the Spanish Civil War , he began his long career on screen, spanning around 200 films, in which he played all kinds of character roles - often bellboys, shopkeepers, bartenders, small townspeople and farmers - and in the course of which he worked with directors such as Florián Rey , Luis Lucia , José Luis Sáenz de Heredia , Juan de Orduña , Luis García Berlanga and Juan Antonio Bardem could work together, but was also featured in many genre films. In the 1970s he was also seen in television roles.
