The district Xayar or Shayar ( Chinese  沙雅县 , Pinyin Shāyǎ Xiàn ; Uighur شايار ناھىيىسى Xayar Naⱨiyisi ) of the Aksu administrative district is located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​31,868 km² and has a population of 220,000 (2003). Its main town is the large community of Xayar (沙雅 镇).
