Xoresth is a funeral doom band founded in 2013 .

history

Dorukcan Yıldız founded Xoresth in 2013 as a solo project. In the following years, however, other members of the Turkish band joined. In the year it was founded, the project released a demo CD-R limited to 33 copies, which was released on the Ukrainian independent label Depressive Illusions Records . The following year, the project participated in a series of split releases that were released on the Russian label Cvlminis , a rigorism production subcontractor. In 2016, Yeghanku Madde released their first full-fledged album.

The second studio album, Vortex of Desolation , released in 2018, was then released in cooperation with new contractual partners via Grimm Distribution , Satanath Records and The Eastern Front . Unlike the previous publications, Vortex of Desolation received international attention and was announced, discussed and advertised in various webzines in advance . The subsequent reviews of the album were mostly positive. Only Ian Morrissey rated Vortex of Desolation as mediocre in his review for the webzine Doom-Metal.com and described it as a failed attempt to emulate the Danish project Nortt .

style

The music presented by Xoresth is assigned to the Funeral Doom. Drone Doom and Ambient are occasionally mentioned as further influences .

For the Doom-Metal.com website, the form of play presented by the group is referred to as "raw" and "simple" as well as the "unaffected" variant of Funeral Doom. In the announcement of the Vortex of Desolation album for Decibel Magazine , editor Vince Bellino describes the music as a "dark and hopeless" blend of "sad melodies, booming drums" and a guttural chant that expresses "sadness and pain". In a further discussion, comparisons to performers of the Funeral Doom and similar music styles will be sought for better localization, including Nortt, Thergothon , Funeral , Goatpsalm , Mekigah , Sektarism and The NULLL Collective .

A salient slowness, even in relation to the reduced tempo common in the genre, has meanwhile been emphasized by several reviewers. In addition, the music is described in reviews as a mixture of "steady drumming, threatening synthesizer sounds and terrifying vocals", as well as "very slow, atmospheric and influenced by ambient".
