The Xwela language (ISO 639-3: xwe; also houeda, peda, phera, xwela gbe and xwela-gba ) is a Niger-Congo language from the Gbe language group , used by a total of 65,000 people in the Beninese provinces of Mono and Atlantique is spoken.

The language therefore also belongs to the group of Kwa languages . There is a lexical similarity with the West-Xwla [xwl] to 90%. Most speakers are also proficient in French and gradually forget their own Xwela language.
