The album had the greatest success in Great Britain, where it got platinum status . However, the album also made it into the charts in continental Europe and the USA.

xx was largely positively rated by the critics:
Pitchfork Media gives the album a good rating with 8.7 out of 10 points. At Allmusic , the album receives four out of five points. In the review it says something like: “ [the] songs that are as simple as they are unique and mysterious. ”(German:“ [the] songs are as simple as they are unique and mysterious. ”) Laut.de also gave a rating of four out of five possible points and the conclusion:“ For the most part, it is a catchy and easily consumable debut "XX" recorded at night did not become. [...] Where other songs by young bands are more and more desperately looking for the garish in order to somehow stand out in the crowd, The XX are elegantly reserved, pleasantly electronically hypothermic, somnambulistic and yet not soporific. Awards
The album won the 2010 Mercury Music Prize , an annual award for the best British music album in the previous 12 months.
