Y'ha-Nthlei is a funeral doom band founded in 2011 .

history

The funeral doom project Y'ha-Nthlei was founded at the end of 2011 by Marco “Omrachk” Toscani and “Sadomaster” in Mede . While Toscani initially acted as a singer, guitarist and drummer and added sound effects, “Sadomaster” got involved as guitarist and bassist. After "Sadomaster" left the band in 2015, Toscani Y'ha-Nthlei continued alone. The debut album Vol 1: The Night Opens on the Brink of the Abyss , released in 2012 via Satanarsa Records , was made by two of them, all subsequent releases were recorded by Toscani without musicians. With Y'ha-Nthlei he contributed the piece The Tomb of Penumbra to the 2015 split album with The Blessed Hellbrigade , Aphonic Threnody and In Lacrimaes et Dolor Of Poison and Grief (Four Litanies for the Deceased) and released via GS Productions Released the second Y'ha-Nthlei album Vol 2: You Dared Challenge the Great Old Ones again in 2017 via Satanarsa Records . You Will Fall into the Abyss . The album received positive feedback and was praised , among other things, in a review of the Doom-Metal.com webzine as “just the thing” for “fans of avant-garde Doom with a preference for lovecraft topics”.

Concept and style

Y'ha-Nthlei pursues an overall concept based on HP Lovecraft and the Cthulhu myth . The name of the band, the lyrics and the design of the recordings constantly refer to the Cthulhu myth. The name of the band Y'ha-nthlei is already borrowed from the myth and describes one of the capitals of the deep beings below the surface of the sea.

Genre performers of Funeral Doom , Black Doom and Depressive Black Metal such as Thergothon , Fungoid Stream , Tyranny , Funeral Mourning , Elysian Blaze , Xasthur and Nortt are tried to make a comparative comparison . Accordingly, the webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the music played by Y'ha-Nthlei as "dark, disturbing and Lovecraft-inspired Funeral Doom" with a musical proximity to Black Metal . The music positions itself “at the raw and hard end of the spectrum” of Funeral Doom, with guttural vocals borrowed from Black Metal , which is paired with sometimes clear vocals. The guitar playing is described as particularly heavy and riff-heavy . On the other hand, the drums would be withdrawn and used in a reduced manner.
