The Yacht Club Austria (YCA) is the largest Austrian association for sailors and motor boaters. He is a member of the Austrian High Seas Association and the Motorboat Sports Association of Austria (MSVÖ) and thus supports Austrian top-class sport, the promotion of young talent and the training of skippers . The Yacht Club Austria is an associated member of the DHH (Deutscher Hochseesportverband "Hansa") , the CCS (Swiss Cruising Club) and, since August 2014, the Royal Solent Yacht Club and thus part of a community of over 25,000 water sports enthusiasts.

history

In 1972, after years of preparation, Claus Krieger founded the YCA, an Austrian club with coastal sailing training based on the German model. From the start, training was the primary purpose.

Austrian yacht owners were few and far between at that time. Those who did not own their own yacht tried to become a crew member on a seagoing yacht. It was in the interests of the owners to get good crew members and, on the other hand, many were interested in making themselves interesting through excellent know-how in ship management and navigation at sea. Under these conditions, the newly founded YCA designed the training system.

Today the Yacht Club Austria is the largest Austrian association for sailors and motorboat drivers. It sees itself as an information and service network, whose Austrian and associated members of the Swiss Crusing Club (CSS) and the German High Seas Sports Association "HANSA" (DHH) form a community of more than 25,000 sailing and boat enthusiasts.

activities

  • The YCA organizes the Austria Cup, the AASW (Alpe-Adria-Sailing-Week), the Gebirgssegler-Cup and successfully takes part in regattas .
