Yamaha Cup
The Yamaha Cup was a motorcycle racing series that was organized by Yamaha and aimed at promoting young talent in motorcycle racing .
history
General
The Yamaha Cup was first held in 1978. This makes it the oldest motorcycle brand cup and the most successful junior series in German motorcycle racing. From the beginning it was held as part of the German or International German Championship . Over the years the name has changed several times, depending on the motorcycle model or main sponsor . Earlier names were, for example, the Yamaha Aral Cup or the Yamaha R6 Shell Cup. The last name since 2004 has been the Yamaha R6 Dunlop Cup.
The recipe for success was equal opportunities, which was implemented using identical material at comparatively low costs. Changes to the engine were taboo. Many later internationally successful drivers, such as Martin Wimmer , Dirk Raudies , Jörg Teuchert or Kenan Sofuoğlu , have collected their first victories here since 1978.
On January 19, 2018, Yamaha Germany announced that the Yamaha Cup would be discontinued.

Distribution of points
The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:
