Yanbian Funde FC (Simplified Chinese: 延边 富 德; Traditional Chinese: 延邊 富 Pin; Pinyin: Yánbiān Fùdé) was a professional Chinese football club currently participating in China League One under license from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Yanji , part of Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province , where the 30,000-seat Yanji Nationwide Fitness Center Stadium is located. Its current main investors are Yanbian Sports Bureau and Funde life insurance company.

The predecessor of the club was originally called Jilin FC until the club was converted into a professional football club. At the end of the 2000 league season, the club rose from the first division of Chinese football. The club struggled with financial difficulties and sold the first team and the franchise to Zhejiang Lücheng . After the sale, it started again in the third division with its reserve team. The club was able to return to the first division for the 2016 CSL season .

history

In 1955, the Jilin Local Government Sports Authority formed Jilin FC to compete in the recently expanded Chinese Football League, and built a mostly Korean team, mostly from the local ethnically Korean population. After the club had established itself in the first division, the club won its first title when it took the league title in 1965. During the Chinese Cultural Revolution , the soccer league was discontinued and Jilin was only 7th when the national championship resumed in 1973. In the following seasons, the club struggled for survival and spent several years in the second division, until the end of the 1988 season, the Chinese Football Association restructured the league and the club was moved to the third division.

After a short time in the third division, the club would rise again and win the 1990 division title. In 1994 he was promoted to the first division. In order to do justice to the full professionalism, they were allowed to be sponsored by Samsung and changed their name to Jilin Samsung Football Club. The club's foray into professionalism meant that the club was able to establish itself in the top division. In 1997, the club was able to take fourth place under coach Choi Eun-taek . However, the team could not build on the results of the previous season and Choi Eun-taek left the club again. Gao Hui took over the team until the club was relegated in 2000. After relegation, the club had to sell its league license and entire first team to Zhejiang Lücheng for 25 million renminbi . The club started the following year in the third division with a team made up of their former reserve squad. In 2004 the club was able to rise again to the second division.

On February 18, 2013, the Chinese association issued a three-point discount to the club and fined CNY 500,000 for accepting a bribe from Guangzhou Pharmaceutical FC for losing their eleventh league game on June 3, 2006. Club officials attempted to appeal the decision, but failed after Guangzhou was fined three years earlier for involvement in fraud in China's anti-match-fixing campaign. The club manager was sentenced to three years in prison on February 18, 2012.

In February 2019, the club was not allowed to compete in the second division because it was unable to service tax debts in time.
