Yang Yu ( Chinese  杨雨 , Pinyin Yáng Yǔ , born May 4, 1991 ) is a Chinese freestyle skier . She specializes in the aerials (jumping) discipline.

biography

Yang's first participation in an international competition was at the 2007 Junior World Championship in Airolo , where she won the silver medal. She made her debut in the World Cup on December 21, 2007 in Lianhua , where she reached 13th place. After the 2007/08 season, there was a three-year break in his sports career because of his studies. Yang won the bronze medal at the 2011 Winter Asian Games in Almaty . On February 11, 2012, she returned to the World Cup and immediately classified fourth in Beida Lake . Six days later, with 3rd place on the Kreischberg, the first podium position followed. Her first World Cup victory was on February 25, 2012 in Minsk .

In the 2012/13 World Cup season, Yang stood on the podium three times, including as the winner in Lake Placid . As a result, she reached sixth place in the Aerials discipline ranking. After a further break of two years, she returned to the World Cup in the 2015/16 season, and won her third World Cup in February 2016 in Deer Valley . A third place was her best World Cup result in winter 2016/17, while she finished 20th at the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada .
