Yankı Erel (born September 25, 2000 in Tekirdağ ) is a Turkish tennis player .

Career

Yankı Erel had promising successes on the ITF Junior Tour. In 2018 he played all Grand Slam tournaments at this . In singles he reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open , in doubles he played alongside the Finn Otto Virtanen and won the title at Wimbledon . They only dropped one set on the way and won a tie-breaker seven times . After his victory, Erel was in the junior world rankings with 16th place on his career high. From 2019 he will play with the professionals.

There he never managed more than one victory in the individual. He won his first title in doubles on the ITF Future Tour in 2017 . In addition, he played his first match on the ATP Challenger Tour in İzmir and, thanks to a wildcard, was in the main draw of an ATP Tour event for the first time in Antalya . At the side of his compatriot Sarp Ağabigün he had no chance against Roman Jebavý and Philipp Oswald . He is currently not listed in the tennis world rankings .
