Yann Candele

Yann Candele (born March 11, 1971 in Normandy , France ) is a Canadian show jumper .

Career

At the age of ten, Candele began to ride. As a junior he was twice a team member of the French team at the European Championships for this age group. After finishing school he went to Japan to work for Katsumi Yoshida. Here he won the Japan League of the FEI World Cup in show jumping in the 1991/1992 season . However, due to quarantine regulations, he was unable to take part in the World Cup finals.

He then returned to France to do his military service there, which he did in a cavalry unit. He then worked for Jean-Pierre Vilaut, again in Normandy. In 1999 he moved to North America and after a two-week probationary period worked for world class rider Eric Lamaze . Two years later he competed in a Nations Cup for the first time at the CSIO Calgary .

In 2007 he started his own business in Caledon (Ontario) . A year later, he became a Canadian citizen.

Candele had his first participation in an international equestrian championship in 2010. At the World Equestrian Games in Lexington , he was 71st in the individual ranking with Pitareusa and reached fifth place with the team. From 2010 to 2013 Candele was Canadian champion four times in a row.

At the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, he and Showgirl were part of the Canadian team that won the team silver medal.

He has two sons with show jumper Jennifer Wallace.
