Yannick Flohé (* 1999 in Essen ) is a German sport climber who competes in all three disciplines of difficulty climbing (lead), bouldering and speed climbing . He won the bronze medal in bouldering at the World Climbing Championships in Hachiōji , Japan in 2019 . He starts for the German Alpine Club Aachen.

Life

Yannick Flohé has a family background, even his parents were competitive climbers. As a child he tried many sports and stayed with climbing. He won his first youth competition in 2012. The first national title followed in 2014 in the German Youth Cup in bouldering and lead in Youth B, in speed he came second. He has been competing in adult competitions since 2015, and has been taking part in the Climbing World Cup since 2017 .

He graduated from high school in 2017 and has been a sports soldier in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo . For Tokyo he is with Jan Hojer , Alex Megos , Hannah Meul and Alma Bestvater in the focus team of national coach Urs Stöcker .

Yannick Flohé won the German championship in bouldering and speed in 2018 and was second in the Olympic combined and fourth in the lead. He won the European Youth Cup in lead and came third in bouldering. At the 2018 World Youth Championships, he finished second in bouldering and fourth in lead.

In 2019 he was third in the German championships in speed and bouldering. At the climbing world championship he was third in bouldering and twelfth in Olympic Combined.

He not only climbs in the hall, but also on the rock. He names the Spanish Margalef as his favorite climbing area .
